Telephonics Core Products include a variety of analog and digital communication management systems designed to address a variety of platform requirements. These products also include a number of custom systems based on key Telephonics' intercommunication system technology that were developed to meet the unique requirements of specific platforms. Central to these core products are the STARCOM and TCOMSS systems. STARCOM is an analog intercom system that is scalable and configurable to applications varying from transport helicopters, to UAV operational shelters, and Air Cushion Landing Craft. TCOMSS is a fully digital system with extended functionality and user capabilities. Initially developed for large scale applications such as ISR aircraft, TCOMSS' flexibility and scalability have allowed its adaptation to new applications such as the U.S. Navy's MH-60R and MH-60S helicopters.

Telephonics' STARCOM is an analog ICS designed to meet the diverse requirements of aircraft, watercraft, and ground-based applications, such as command and control shelters. STARCOM is specifically designed to provide reliable intercommunications in high noise environments and is based on a fully analog architecture that provides cost effective solutions for both large and small scale applications. These systems are generally built as two (2) unique types including the Communications System Control Unit (CSC) and the Audio Distribution Unit (ADU), which minimizes sparing requirements and contributes to low overall cost of ownership.

It should be noted that smaller STARCOM applications are built with only CSCs, further enhancing its cost effectiveness. Two (2) additional STARCOM LRU types, the Navigation Receive Unit (NRU) and the Maintenance Station Unit (MSU) provide options that expand the range of platform applications to which STARCOM can be applied. Key characteristics of STARCOM include the following:

*CSC accommodates five (5) receiver/transmitters, six (6) navigation receivers and controller and uncontrolled audio warnings
*Main and private interphone channels
*Selected receiver/transmit channels are automatically monitored
*Radio and NAV receiver channels can be individually monitored and controlled
*Remote Radio Transmit Keying via HOTAS/HOCAS operation
*Voice Activated (VOX) hands-free operation that performs in high noise environments
*100 dB minimum channel isolation meets requirements for secure communications
*Optionally NVIS compatible and multiple panel lighting options
*Ruggedized design and fully environmentally and EMI qualified

STARCOM is now incorporated into a wide variety of airborne, shipborne, and ground-based applications. Over 25 rotary wing applications, numerous UAV ground stations and the U.S. Navy's Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) Air cushion are just a small sample of STARCOM's use in demanding environments.
