It takes navigational data from external sensors and generates a variety of display formats. The MND-640B?s flight deck controls are straightforward: rotary knobs for selection of the bearing pointer navigation sources, heading and course when in HSI mode, format and brightness. Four types of data can be displayed in the center area of the compass rose: Distance Measuring Equipment, approach deviation, VOR/FMS/TCN deviation and FMS/VLF Very Low Frequency present position.
